Climate change protesters have disrupted the beginning of Chancellor Philip Hammond’s Mansion House Speech.
They were removed from the City of London event for the financial services industry and Mr Hammond was able to continue a few minutes later.
“The irony is that this is government that has just led the world by committing to a zero carbon economy by 2050,” said the chancellor.
There was “a scintilla of uncertainty” about his future in the job, he added.
As Conservative Party members prepare to chose a new leader – and prime minister – commentators have suggested it was to be a valedictory speech by Mr Hammond.
